Understand text changes and visual differences

If a revision inserts a cover page, later pairs can differ because their positions shifted. Check the document order before interpreting a long list of changed pages.

Text comparison highlights added and removed extracted lines. Visual comparison highlights differences in rendered page images, which also helps with scanned documents that have no selectable text. Review both views: text extraction can differ because of PDF encoding, and a visual mark can reflect a layout change rather than a wording change.

The report contains document contents, so share it as carefully as the source PDFs. No differences detected means none were found within this comparison scope, not that the files are identical in every respect.

Can I compare scanned PDFs?

Yes, through rendered page images. Line-by-line text changes require extractable text; image-only scans may have no text changes to list.

Does comparison check hidden data or signatures?

No. It compares extracted lines and bounded page images, not hidden data, permissions, or digital signature validity. Small visual changes can be missed at preview resolution.

What are the comparison limits?

Each PDF can contain up to 40 pages, with 50 MB combined across the two inputs.

What happens when a page is inserted?

Pages are paired by position rather than meaning. An inserted page can shift the remaining pairs. Review the page sequence and the added or removed page statuses before drawing conclusions.
