Build a continuous document index

Bates numbering gives every page a reference that continues across an ordered set of PDFs. Finish the document order first, choose a short prefix, and set the starting number and digit padding. For example, prefix CASE- with start 1 and six digits produces CASE-000001. The next document continues the sequence instead of restarting at 1.

Choose the footer position and margin, then inspect the preview for overlap with existing footnotes or page numbers. Download the ZIP containing the numbered copies and CSV document index. Open representative pages at document boundaries and check the first and last labels against the index before sending the packet. Keep the unnumbered originals separately.
